The Theme…

Take a trip to the beach!  Beach-themed weddings are fabulous.  As an island nation, we have some spectacular beaches to choose from, from the sandy beaches of Cornwall to the vibrant and rugged coasts of Scotland.  The seaside has an incredible ability to bring out the child in us all provides a fabulous opportunity to have some fun in a more casual setting.

The Venue…

Being based in the Cotswolds, we are a bit lacking on the ‘Ocean’ front, but that doesn’t need to stop you from making the most of this fabulous theme!  Head to the Cotswold Beach where this amazing wedding shoot took place.  It’s one of the few inland ‘beaches’ in the UK providing water activities, soft sand, spaces for BBQ, decking and ice cream (if ice cream doesn’t convince you, nothing will!).  OK, waves will be in short supply and, being in the UK, we can’t guarantee the weather but you can show your guests how to have some fun!!

The Outfits…

Everything about this shoot was meant to scream ‘fun’ – the Bride had a shorter preloved Bridal dress with sparkly mint-green heels (and pearly foot jewellery for when on the beach), the Bridesmaids wore non-matching bright colours, and the Groom and Best Man opted for sandy-coloured chinos, canvas shoes and a more casual jackets/waistcoat combo.

The Bride and Bridesmaids had their hair and make-up done by the amazing Libby and Kamila who made a cracking team.  The weather wasn’t exactly on our side for the shoot so Libby had to completely change her plans for the Bridal Party’s hair so they would stay looking pristine…beautiful.

The Rings…

The beautiful rings were provided by The Middle Green, as were the ‘thank you’ gifts for the Bridesmaids.  All of these pieces are unique, and hand made.

You are Cordially invited….

Invitations, table names, seating plans, order of the day – it’s crazy how much chaos can ensure when people don’t know what they are doing (or when they are supposed to be doing it!).  The gorgeous bespoke stationery for the shoot was provided by Sew Unique and maintains the relaxed but fun theme, while still offering a luxurious quality for your special day.

I Do…

The place where the couple exchanges vows should be magical – the stylists from Fabulous Functions UK created a beautiful floral gazebo to provide a beautiful location for the vows and photographs.  The setup is mobile so you could move it elsewhere for another part of your wedding later too!

Did someone say there’s a PROSECCO VAN!!!???

YES!  Glasses of prosecco are so last year…now you can have your very own van of prosecco!  The lovely Charlotte will pour you a glass of either white of pink prosecco allowing you and your guests to celebrate in luxury 😀

Setup in style…

Even for small weddings, the look of the table setting is so important at tying your theme together.  The lovely Sandra from Fabulous Functions did a miraculous job of transforming the simple benches at the venue into banquet tables fit for a Bride with her beautiful decorations – organza sashes, candelabra with coloured candles, seashells, mini messages in bottles as favours – so many gorgeous details to bring in this beach theme and pull the whole concept together, working with the natural surroundings of the venue.

Let them eat cake…

All weddings need cake and a beach-themed wedding is no exception!  While buttercream is often the ‘go-to’ for more casual weddings, it doesn’t hold up well in the heat so Simplicity Cakes created a more relaxed fondant covered cake to hold up against the elements…and that cake stand…OMG…another magnificent provision by Fabulous Functions.  No one ever says ‘no’ to a macaron either so they had to be included and speckled with edible silver.

Photobooths are an awesome way of bringing people together – you get to dress up, have fun, look silly and (for better or worse) it’s all recorded for posterity!!  Tom of Fandangos Fotobox provided the fabulous photobooth setup and all the props.  Don’t let that retro-looking camera fool you either; that box contains some super-modern tech so every picture will look perfect!  Mix in some recliners, blankets, maybe even some hay bales and fire pits and you have a fabulous space where your guests can relax throughout the day.

A picture paints a thousand words…

It’s surreal just how quickly your wedding day goes by so make sure that you have someone to record your day who you trust and will capture the special moments for you to reflect on when you’re old and wrinkly.  Joseph Dart is one amazing photographer who put everyone on the shoot at ease straight away.  Some of you may recognise me from the pictures – Thomas and I took off our baking aprons and played Bride and groom for the shoot – and it’s safe to say that we were both super nervous and had never done anything like this before but we had a great time.  Choose your photographer wisely – you only get one shot at your wedding pictures!
