Simplicity Cakes by Sarah Wedding Cakes Swindon Wiltshire FAQ
Step 1: contact us to check that your date is available.
Step 2: arrange a no-obligation meeting to discuss your requirements and book into our next tasting session.
Step 3: once the design is confirmed, transfer the deposit and then relax! We will take over the arrangements and prepare your cake ready for your special event.
For practical purposes at least 2 months notice is advised for wedding cakes but we will always try to accommodate last minute orders. Fruit cakes must be ordered at least three months in advance to give them time to mature. However, as we only accept 1 wedding cake order per week and bookings are allocated on a first-come, first served basis, we advise that you contact us as soon as possible if you would like us to make your cake.
Yes. Delivery on the day of the event is free within 5 miles of Taw Hill, Swindon (SN25) and delivery outside of this area can be arranged for a charge. The delivery charge includes liaising with your venue events team and assembly of the cake on site where necessary.

All cakes may be collected and we may advise on transportation and storage alternatives. Simplicity Cakes by Sarah cannot be held responsible for any damage to the cake once it has left our premises.

Consultations are advised for bespoke cakes and are an opportunity to discuss your ideas, requirements and a design for your cake. Unless your consultation is on the same day as a cake testing, samples will not be provided but you will be able to come to the next tasting session to try the different flavours we offer. Following the consultation, we will prepare a quotation for you based on the agreed design for your review and approval.
If you have any ideas or inspiration for your cake then bring it with you, similarly any colour swatches if you would like to match colours. We will need a contact name with whom we can arrange delivery and setup (if required) of your cake.
Tasting sessions happen once every few months and are an opportunity for you to try all of our standard flavours. We will also have a mini-consultation to discuss your cake requirements. Appointments last an hour and can be made by contacting us.
Many venues already have their own cake stands and will include their hire in your package, however we do have a couple of cake stands available to hire if you would like a different look.
Following a consultation (where applicable), a non-refundable 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. See our terms and conditions for full details.
Our cakes are made from scratch by hand and finished to a high standard which requires significant amounts of labour. For example, all of our cakes are sealed with a layer of chocolate ganache or marzipan before icing to ensure both freshness and a perfect finish. As we only do a very limited number of cakes per week to ensure quality, we also do not get the economies of scale which can be achieved from supermarkets. We can create cakes to suit different budgets and would be happy to advise you on the alternatives.
