My first memory of making a decorated cake was for my little brother when I was about 12 years old – it was a ski jump cake. Sadly, the whole thing fell over, but I loved making it (and he enjoyed eating it)! Fast forward to my time at University and baking became a creative outlet. It was something which became increasingly important to me and I developed my skills, making (lots of!) cakes for family and friends until deciding to start my own business.
“The Chandelier Cake Company” as it was then, officially opened in 2013. It rapidly became clear that my passion lay with wedding cakes and more specifically, cakes which were visually striking in in their simplicity. We reflected that change in direction in the company and became, “Simplicity Cakes by Sarah”, thereafter producing new cake designs which incorporated elaborate techniques into an otherwise blank canvas. Our designs have won medals at competitions and several of our cakes have also been featured in “Cake Craft Guide: Wedding Cakes & Sugar Flowers” Magazine.
As the business grew, so did our reach and in 2014, we were delighted to be one of the first few suppliers accepted into the Whitewed Directory, a new and exciting directory being launched in the Wiltshire area listing only vetted and approved wedding professionals.
Now, I run the business with the support of my own Fiancé, Thomas, who is himself an accomplished baker and rapidly improving decorator. We aim to provide you with the best possible customer experience and a cake that you will be proud of.
